Miss Elsie Lambert was a teacher at Orbost State School for 25 year.This is representative of the entertainment popular in Orbost in the 1940's-1950's.Two small 12 pp cream coloured books with brown print and the head of an American Indian chief in head-dress on the cover. It is titled"Hiawatha" prod. and directed by F.C. Herbert. a musical event presented in Orbost 1949, performed and sponsored by the Orbost Rotary Club. The Adult Deaf and Dumb Society of Victoria, now known as Vicdeaf, (the Victorian Deaf Society), was founded in 1884 as the Victorian Society for Promoting the Spiritual and Temporal Welfare of the Adult Deaf and Dumb. The provisional committee being Mr W Bates, Mr J M Bruce, Mr J D Gowan, Mr Edwin Newbiggin, Mr C M Officer, M. L, A., and the Rev. W. Moss. The Adult Deaf and Dumb Mission's objects were: 1. To provide the means for religious worship and instruction for the adult deaf and dumb of Victoria 2. To visit the deaf and dumb in their homes, especially when sick or in distress 3. Brown, C ...This was the first-time winning the "C" grade band competition at Tanunda, S.A. as well as representing Victoria in that competition.There were five new bands participating in the Tanunda, South Australia Band Competition in October 1928, and the Nhill Brass Band under the direction of Mr. James Davis had the honor of representing Victoria. The band participated in the competition despite there being an influenza epidemic before they left. This was the first-time winning the "C" grade competition at Tanunda,S.A. as well as representing Victoria in that competition.Photograph attached to the center of brown colored picture card, with border, title and names inscribed.
